NICK JOINS COMPUTERCARE

After spending 10 years as a manager in retail sales, I was looking for a change of direction and an industry I would be able to continue to develop in. An opportunity came up in the internal IT service department of a large Australian financial institution, and I have now been working within ICT in numerous roles for 6 years. I love the ever-changing nature of the work, and the fact no two days are ever the same.

Who are you, and what is your role at ComputerCare?

Nick Chalmers, Systems Engineer - Datacom

What made you want to work with us?

I feel that CompuerCare’s values closely align with my own, I think it is essential to work somewhere, where you’re ‘pulling in the same direction’.

As a large business ComputerCare also gives me the opportunity to come back to work after my ‘stay at home dad’ sojourn, and build my skills and hopefully progress through the ranks.

What are you most excited about to achieve here?

I’m looking forward to the exposure to the different clients we support. Seeing the varied ways in which technology services their business.

I enjoy being able to provide customers with a solution and giving them an exceptional experience.

What was your journey like that led you where you are now?

Born and bred in Gisborne, upon the beautiful East Coast. I’ve spent time all around New Zealand, Nelson, Dunedin, Wellington, as well as spending 5 years in Adelaide, South Australia.

I have worked across a few industries in a few different roles, all with a real focus on service and customer centricity.

What themed party would you throw for the office?

A Mexican Fiesta!

Tacos

Cerveza

Margaritas

Mariachi Bands

Professional Wrestling

What’s not to love?

What are the small things that make your day better?

Coffee!

Smiles!

Carparks out the front of your destination!

If you could have 1 superpower, what would it be?

Telekinesis – If it’s good enough for Jack Black its good enough for me.

"What powers, you ask? I dunno, how 'bout the power of flight? That do anything for ya? That's levitation, Holmes. How 'bout the power to kill a yak, from 200 yards away... with mind bullets! That's telekinesis, Kyle! How 'bout the power... to move you?"

― Jack Black (of Tenacious D), "Wonderboy"
